Location: Office based in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands

Role Overview: The Corporate Purchasing and Inventory Manager will be responsible for managing and directing the Purchasing and Inventory function. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role will control, maintain, and develop relationships with mills, monitor purchasing flow, spend, and pricing levels. The role involves working closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, and Quality departments to ensure efficient and effective inventory management inline with corporate policy.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Management & Direction:

    • Oversee the Purchasing and Inventory function, ensuring adherence to correct processes, schedules, and timescales.
    •  
    • Guide and mentor the purchasing and inventory team to achieve efficiency and effectiveness across the AMS group.
  •  
  • Relationship Management:
       
    • Control, maintain, and develop relationships with mills to monitor purchasing flow, spend, and pricing levels.
    •  
    • Visit existing mills and identify new mill/supplier opportunities to evaluate quality requirements and capabilities.
    •  
    • Manage key supplier relationships, conduct pricing negotiations, and manage bid management to ensure competitive and effective inventory support for business and sales needs.

  • Inventory Control:
       
    • Monitor and report inventory levels, ensuring they are in line with corporate policy.
    •  
    • Produce and analyse inventory reports to ensure stock optimization and effective use of space across the AMS group.
    •  
    • Visit AMS sites globally to support space analysis and stock-taking activities.
  •  
  • Financial Oversight:
       
    • Regulate and monitor spending in line with corporate values.
    •  
    • Support the sales function with pricing advice, special purchase/package negotiation, and contractual support.
    •  
    • Negotiate competitive scrap prices for AMS globally to ensure the best value for the company.
  •  
  • Support to Duty Manager:
       
    • Provide support in covering all areas of Customs and Excise HMRC activity.

Person Specification:

  • Education, Training, or Qualifications:
       
    • Strong academic record (graduated with a 2:1 or above)
    •  
    • Strong GCSE/A-levels or equivalent
    •  
    • Degree level in Business/Purchasing Qualification (Desirable)
  •  
  • Relevant Experience:
       
    • Aerospace industry and metals knowledge/experience (Desirable)
    •  
    • Inventory/Purchasing/Supply chain experience
    •  
    • Strong negotiation and commercial skills
  •  
  • Special Skills or Knowledge:
       
    • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel
    •  
    • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

    • Strong mathematical and IT skills
